April 9, 2020 – Greetings From Your Mayor
Thank you for staying home and practicing social distancing. Your efforts are helping prevent the spread of COVID-19 within our community.
We are rescheduling the Tuesday, April 14 Town Council Meeting to Tuesday, April 21 at 6:30pm, and are working to offer a live stream of the meeting since the public is unable to attend. You will receive more information, via robocall, the town’s website and Facebook, and the April 15 Sussex-Surry Dispatch, regarding how to access the live stream meeting from home.
There have been many questions about the May 5, 2020 election. Governor Northam has recommended that the elections be postponed to November. The General Assembly will vote on the postponement the week of April 20.
As we head into the Easter weekend, I know many are disappointed that in-person Easter church services are canceled. We have asked Waverly’s churches to ring their church bells at noon on Easter Sunday, and hope this will bring comfort to our citizens on this Holy day of the Christian Church.
During this time, we hope that you will also find beauty and inspiration in the many spring flowers blooming throughout our town, and feel comfort in the knowledge that we will persevere and be together again soon.
-Mayor Angela McPhaul
Effective March 31-June 10, 2020 –

Good Afternoon Citizens of Waverly,

We are also asking that you consider using a money order instead of paying cash. We will mail you a receipt within one business day for any payments. Please continue to use the drop box until further notice.
The Mayor and Waverly Town Council will be holding an emergency meeting on Thursday March 19, 2020 at 6pm to discuss any additional precautions that may be put into place in the coming weeks. This meeting will be a closed session.
